Zorzal is a bird famous for its singing just like the featured vocal stylings of Gaby Kerpel on a few of the tracks. Latin. Electronica. Tango. Dub. Bossa. I give up! What more do you need in an album... For me? A bit of twang, definitely a bit of melancholy and something new or fresh, or something old, that I might have forgotten or just a strange combination will do? Axel Krygier does that all on "Donde Estaras Hermanita?" by combining the element of melancholy with Bossa and I swear a bit Prince/ Symbol guitar twang, hard to say really, but it mesmerised me, the rest of the album was a bonus for me, I was sold at track two. I listen to that song now and then just to watch myself frown. I stare at the picture on the back cover with bewilderment and agape at how he did it. Kid Koala fans bought the shops empty when this came out. The album features one of my all time favorite instruments, the Theremin. Everyone knows about my love for this strange instrument and here is a chance to hear what Axel does with it on "Rosebud" and Sentimento/Pensamento" and here and there through out the Zorzal. I know how hard it is to play or make it sound like the intoxicating instrument that it is, big up yourself Axel! Zorzal is his third Album and you can hear that he knows how to trust his feelings and translates them into music we can all understand. He speaks to your heart this guy. It is easy for him to do as he plays more than ten instruments. He makes music for the absurd and smiles as he goes. Loved and respected by greats like David Burne, Gotan Project and Coldcut. As a DJ I find the Latin beats on Zorzal easy to fit into my Trip Hop sets or in any of my other sets if I feel the mood hangs a bit. I've played them at different speeds too, making them lounge speeding them up here and there and loops great too. So from a great gift for your brother sister or lover to front row seat in your Dj Box. Zorzal is so diverse that it will bring people together in a good way. Makes you connect. Every track is a dish on a long table outside in the summer time where every one you had ever loved is seated and feasting away.Woodstock
