Yeah! Now that's what I'm talkin'bout! Instromania!
As you all know by now, I am totally addicted to Surf Instrumental and love instrumental music. Could never understand why vocalists had to always ruin a good band, oi! Here they are, Kid of Doom. I know relatively little about the band and that they are one of the greatest South African bands yet, sort of like the old/very early Flypaper Jets, they had another name back then I think. The music haunts and flips out psychedelia and guitar areas like muddy boots, alright.
And the keyboard power delivered by Richard, wow! his a modern day John Lord but that does not stop him or limit him to any kind of form and genre or style. And I know any band that plays the theremin scores big in my book too. You see, Kid of Doom does not try to convince you that they are a great band worthy of your following and support. They simply know good music and come from good music and play what they would like to be listening to.
This album could have gone many different ways but one song after the next it takes you different places. Kid of Doom uses your ears as a canvas to project their memories and emotions onto. You don't really get it the first time and that's OK, by track three or "Space walk" you're lost and can't find your way out of the room and away from the sound. This is simply for your edification.
It is intelligent and well thought out...
...warming and rich with soul and passion.
Let it in...
