Ok, now here are strict instructions and try not to mess it up. Ok, here goes, skip the first track(Sparrows) it's a bad track to hear first, it is however ok to listen to later on once you have isolated Lilly and Parkers role in the conception of the bands over all sound. Parker sings like and angel and for some strange reason enjoy lots of effects on his vocal track I find unnecessary as his voice is good and strong as it is. Not sure if Lilly is even on this recording, she quit during production so... I guess there are some guitar work of hers accounted and unaccounted for.
It is not as haunting and beautiful as Lightning Dust or Breathe Owl Breathe but It will appeal to those fans anyway. The zillions of cymbal crashes annoys the living crap out of me and I just cannot understand what it is suppose to create? I have a valve amp and it creates a sound that cuts right through my jacket and pierces my skin. As a result I skip a few songs when I listen to Shining Violence.
The Low Lows originally come from New York, where they became known under the title Parker and Lily, a duo/couple consisting of Parker Noon and Lily Wolfe. Later, Jeremy Wheatly and Daniel Rickard were added to the ensemble. The title suited the ambient humor and eventually became the name of the new group, who were emigrating to Georgia at the time. The following year they recorded the magnificent and abrasive record, «Fire on the Bright Sky» , which was released in 2006 on the London-based label Monotreme Records (Monotreme also released work from Thee More Shallows, Picastro, and Cerberus Shoal).
