Bwaaaaaghaaaaaghaaa! I thought it was lank serious Electronica but it turned out to be Electro! Dub step! Dark Step! Effen Awesome! Some dance music again how nice it that. Mark E Smith is all over the microphone like a dirty pair of panties on a Louisiana hooker. My dogs got up and went to lie outside when I put this CD on. Mark E is no stranger to making enemies and a few dogs wont even make him flinch.
"I feel like now it doesn't matter, it's not important, which decade you're referencing or whether you've got the coolest break or electronic trick. It's just the energy that counts."
Jan St Werner
The tracks seem to just roll into one and pushed to purposefully annoy clubbers. The breaks are erratic but nothing as polished and refined as Jesse Koolhaas. The beats are raw and the samples are rude and crass. The band/group consists of Mark E Smith, Andi Toma, and Jan St Werner. Mark E is no stranger to this kind of sound as he has successfully experimented and delved into the depths of Trance, Drum and Bass, Progressive house and Break Beats.
The sound reminds me of one of the absolute kings of Dark Step, Nine Elms (...and I hope they found a record Label already) I keep thinking it's going to ripp up my speakers like that but it always returns to the same place where Mark E, Andi and Jan has created. A new place to go. An alternative to bars and coffee shops and smelly clubs called Von Sudenfed. It reminds me of about 10/12 years ago when Too Many Dj's pulled into the scene. No one was really sure if there was going to more of this great stuff and everyone feared the flash in the pan feeling.
Mark E's vocals finds a home here between the bleeps and chirps as it has always between fuzz boxes and feedbacks of over amplified speakers and the scratchy throat of post punk guitars.
Mark E Smith has led The Fall through more than 25 studio albums since their formation in Manchester 31 years ago. His lyrics, delivery, song-writing and attitude have had an incalculable influence on punk, post-punk and as many of their close relations and off-shoots as you care to think of, with artists from Wu Tang's RZA, to LCD Soundsystem, DJ Shadow, and Pavement all acknowledged fans.
So if you don't already own all 25 official Fall records...
